Leia Slosberg is a New York based flutist committed to the performance of new music. Throughout her career she has premiered countless works by young composers from across the United States and abroad. Her performances have brought her to a variety of venues including Carnegie Hall, Orchestra Hall in Chicago, Spectrum, Firehouse Space, and DIY spaces around the country. Dedicated to the expansion of the flute repertoire, in 2015 Leia appeared as a Guest Artist at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, BC where she presented a recital of commissioned works for solo flute featuring text and vocal effects; the recital was also presented in Boston, Seattle, and Chicago. In addition to her studies, Leia has been a Performance Fellow at New England Conservatory’s Summer Institute for Contemporary Performance and the Cortona Sessions for New Music. Leia received a Bachelor of Music from The Boston Conservatory and is currently a candidate for the Master of Music in Contemporary Performance at Manhattan School of Music, studying with Dr. Tara Helen O’Connor. In New York, Leia appears as a regular member of the MSM contemporary ensemble Tactus and has also appeared with Metropolis Ensemble.
